Prototype

When to request a prototype?

The creation of a prototype is necessary to refine the errors of design and functionality before any manufacturing known as “mass”.

Overall they allow you to refine the product and make it more attractive.

As part of your price request, the manufacturer includes the different stages of creation of your item before post production. No additional cost should be asked.

How do you make a copy of the product?

A prototype is created for its article and its evaluation. It follows from this to go through a whole simple series of measurements in which each step is important.

a / 3D drawing

It consists of designing a 3D drawing of the product to be manufactured. This is possible for certain parts. The implementation of the 3D drawing can be corrected several times (usually 3 times) until it is satisfied.

b / 3D printing

The second step is to 3D print your item. More and more manufacturers go through a 3D printing of the item to be created, generally they agree to print it with each correction at an additional cost and within a limit of three times. Their job is not to print parts in 3D, but to make them.

Important: Ask to have these 3D prints sent to you for verification before any manufacturing agreement.

Note: 3D printing is a good security method for manufacturing and importing a manufactured item. However, this method is not always possible, sometimes you have to settle for the first phase to create your injection mould or a template for manufacturing by going directly to phase “c”.

c / Mould

The third phase is the establishment of an injection mould or a template for your product. The mould or the template is made only once, so it is important to be completely satisfied with the previous steps.

Generally the mould is made for the manufacture of a certain number of articles. After this number, Le Mould has to be redone for a new series.

The mould is not free and it is very different depending on the size and the product that will be injected. In fact, the injection pressures are different depending on the product, the mould being made for mass production according to this principle.

After its end of life, the mould is often renewed free of charge by the manufacturer. This is because if you have established a MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) equal to or greater than the manufacturer’s request, you have amortized its cost. For commercial reasons and if the product is satisfactory, the manufacturer will remake the mould for the second order.

How do we package the product?

Regarding packaging, the procedure is the same. The manufacturer offers the type of packaging closest to the size of the product and makes its price proposal. The design of the cardboard can also be entered and requested as well as the type of printing, monochrome or color on it.

Include your operating and assembly instructions in the box. The instructions for use and assembly of the article possibly can be provided in PDF simply. It will be automatically reproduced by the company.

Note: The packaging cannot be requested from the unit in a personalized version (except in the case of large orders).
